FAAN Starts N712bn MMIA Renovation

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commenced extensive renovation works at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).

The airports operator has swung into action barely weeks after the Federal Government approved N712 billion for the exercise.

The funding represents nearly 80% of FAAN’s national aviation upgrade budget of N919.1 billion.

Driven by FAAN Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku and backed by Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, the project will see Terminal 1 completely rehabilitated and expanded, while Terminal 2 will be upgraded to handle wide-body aircraft with new boarding bridges and apron facilities.

As the renovation begins, FAAN has advised passengers to leave early for the airport to avoid missing lights, obey traffic instructions around the airport complex, and use only designated car parks.
